I have healthy anxiety - newborn

Advice

everyone,

I’m 6 weeks postpartum and feeling really anxious tonight, and I could really use some reassurance or hearing others’ experiences. Earlier today I suddenly lost my voice and had a mild sore throat. Over the past few hours, the pain when I swallow has gotten much worse. I don’t have a fever, no real cough (just tiny here and there), and no congestion. The pain feels equal on both sides of my throat.

Logically I know this could just be a normal viral sore throat or irritation from the dry weather, but I’m spiraling because I have a 6-week-old at home and I’m scared of her getting sick. My toddler recently had a stomach bug, so I’m on high alert with every symptom.

I’ve been washing my hands constantly, avoiding talking over her, turning away if I cough, and keeping some distance when possible. She is acting totally normal right now — feeding well, breathing normally, sleeping well — but the mom anxiety is hitting hard. Has anyone had a sudden painful sore throat or voice loss around a newborn? Did your baby stay okay? I just need to hear from others that this doesn’t automatically mean something dangerous for her. I know newborn illnesses can be scary, and I’m just trying to keep her safe while also managing my own symptoms and worries. Any reassurance or similar experiences would really help me tonight. 💕 Thank you.
