Help getting Pix to turn on?

I bought a Pix on ebay and the listing had pictures and said it was working. I'm inclined to believe the seller who otherwise has positive feedback but I can't get it to turn on. I tried replacing the batteries, holding down the top of the shell, and using a paperclip on the restart button. Any other ideas or is it time to chuck it in the trash?
