Reached Act 3, is finishing all side content before finishing the story a good idea?

I see a lot of people on the internet saying that it's a bad idea since the final boss will be too weak, but doesn't 100x'ing enemy HP or limiting my damage solve that?

Are there any other reasons to finish the story first and then go for the side content?
