Recency / Nostalgia bias STILL does not have a 'factual' impact on what I can think or not think.
This post is mostly just a venting-type post because of a specific subset of people in my life who have been very adamant about the fact that liking something (media, product, really anything) that is less than 5 years old is 100% recency bias. Same thing applies with anything older than, say, 10 years, but with nostalgia bias instead. I swear, it feels like I can only have an unbiased opinion about stuff release within like a 5 year window both online and real life.
Really, I feel like I know my tastes and what I like and dislike so I just wanted to know if anybody else feels like this, especially with the concerning amount of people brushing off my opinions as invalid due to either of these biases.
Like, no sir! I am pretty sure that I know what I like or dislike, and that I like or dislike it because I think that it is good or bad. Really, this could fall into a whole different category regarding people's weird tendency to tell me what my opinions are or tell me what I am thinking or feeling at a given moment. It's less of a thing of like 'oh no, you're opinion is wrong' and more of a 'you don't actually have the opinion because because of x, y, and z.' (x, y, and z referring, in this case, to a thing not being released within and oddly specific time span).
Again, this could apply to literally anything, but this is just the recent thing that has happened to me.
