Serious question for people with +20 weapons

At one point, I was going to ask what people's first +20 weapon were, then they handed out all those weapon parts and I got more than one. I think mine was mythril rod.

Anyway, I kinda saw the plus 20 as an additional "brand" on the weapon, so I'm hesitant to take them off. What are you guys doing? Seems kinda dumb not to, but I also kinda like having that little extra strength like a brand could give
