Paradise island Bahamas

I have been researching for our trip to Atlantis and it seems quite expensive to eat and drink there. We can afford it but we like more “LOCAL” establishments. We really like non- touristy shopping and local eateries. We have searched maps of the island and found some options. We were just wondering if anyone that has been there can recommend anything that we would enjoy and why. Thanks in advance
