Laxmi asked the hive to back off of Carol

The timing of the phone call from Laxmi to Carol in the hospital is interesting. “You made my son cry. You do not ever make my son cry!” Why even include the call from Laxmi in the episode? We know the hive tries to balance the wishes of Carol and Mr. Diamante in the case of who flies off with Zosia. Laxmi must have implored the hive to do something different after losing her Grandfather first and then having her son cry. Maybe the mood change and then the exodus was driven by Laxmi’s interactions with the hive on her end. While there is also a logic of the hive protecting the secret of how to reverse the joining, there were many approaches they could have taken other than the exodus. We may be seeing more dynamics play out of the hive taking some actions factoring in being in the middle of conflicts between the immune characters.
