Advice? Please

Advice? Hi I have a friend who is losing his apartment and at risk of homelessness with his girlfriend and cat because he fell behind on rent. He was the only one in the house with a W2 and an actual paying job while his roommates only did twich streams and doordash because one of them has anxiety and the other one does have a physical disability but can hold down a job she just chooses not to. The issue is while dealing with eviction they are asking for their portion of rent back since it wasn't used for rent but only utilities and electricity and internet so my friend could keep the lights on while looking for overtime and another job to keep up with rent . His roommates wanted him to cover everything while they paid very little in rent. His apartment manager's advice was not to pay them back and just come up with rent another way because these people are just using him. He also said when rent is payed it's no longer their money it's become part of the household and if its used for utilities and household necessities it's void of repayment. My friend also has no help from his roommates fighting the eviction again one of them just streams video games all day while the other one only doordashes while living out of his car as a way to avoid any responsibilities to the household. My friend has offered to negotiate a payment plan with his former roommates as a way to appease them but can't do so right now because you know homelessness he has to find shelter for his girlfriend and their cat first. Quite frankly I don't think my friend is the ah. I think he was used by these people for a very long time. These people refused to help him and basically had him pay for nearly everything while he struggled to keep up. The only one who helped him was his girlfriend and she even sold things to to make up for what she couldn't pay with her unemployment. She even used her unemployment to help get rent paid off. While the other two would throw a fit if the electricity or internet went out again leaving my friend to pay it all off . I All I can say is this is why people shouldn't live with roommates but I digress. And before you judge anything keep in mind once again his own property manager said he shouldn't pay them back if that gives you any indication of how bad the situation was.
