The standard for Demonlist levels is too high // HOT TAKE #1
[I'm open to having my mind changed, so if you disagree, please tell me why instead of downvoting and I'll engage in discussion]
The first part of this has to do with rate standards on Rob's part. While some levels get their due praise (flamewall, Acheron, etc), there are a surprisingly high amount of levels that get robbed. Tidal wave, Avernus, Slaughterhouse, and Firework are all levels that would be easily feature-worthy if they were a few difficulty icons lower. Likewise, TS2 and Amethyst both deserve epic, especially considering the "rate-flation" that's been caused by the newer Mythic and Legendary tiers.
The second half of this is the community's reaction to top 1s. I'm not sure why, but there seems to be this raised expectation for levels that are past a certain difficulty. This leads to obnoxious bandwagoning (think of when everyone hated on Avernus, a level that most can't get 4% on). The demon list is just a list of levels that happen to be the hardest in the game. That's it. It's not a "how fun is this level" list.
"What about levels that are clearly lazy or outdated". I judge levels based on the context of when they were created. I think Silent Clubstep, for example, is beautiful, not feature worthy for sure, but hating on it reeks of ignorance. Even Sakupen Circles, my least favorite DL level, is honestly really freaking good compared to a random featured 6*, and that combined with it's history and difficulty is why I'm annoyed that it somehow only gets a star rate and the entire community shitting on it.
Love you all ❤️
TLDR: DL Standards are too high, both for rate-tier and general opinion around the community, many top 1s got robbed of an otherwise higher rate, DL is just based on difficulty and nothing more, Commuity needs to stop dog-piling
