Hutch's Story
Via Dog Squad in Greer, SC:
First time we’ve ever had a foster dog take himself on a full-on neighborhood-to-neighborhood tour — leash, collar, and all.
40 minutes of pure panic.
Randy was loading Hutch into the car to head back to his foster home when something spooked him. It happened in a split second — he pulled, the leash slipped, and just like that… Hutch was gone.
We cannot shout out @ fi.dogs enough. Had Hutch not been wearing his Fi tracking collar, we would still be out there searching. The realtime GPS was literally our lifeline as we followed that little husky dot zigzagging across the map.
Hutch went from yard to yard, neighborhood to neighborhood, intersection to intersection. We were humbled by the number of Good Samaritans who stopped their cars, jumped out to help, or pointed us in the direction he darted off next. And honestly, we were shocked at how fast he is — especially considering he had bilateral fracture repair surgery just 8 weeks ago. 👀
For those who don’t know: huskies are famous escape artists. Independent thinkers, questionable recall, Olympic-level speed… this is not a breed for first-time dog owners. They are smart, nimble, and QUICK.
Hutch is home. Safe. Tired. And currently smiling and wagging his tail like nothing ever happened.
Thank you to everyone who helped us in real time and those who shared his “Lost” post behind the scenes — our village showed up today in a big way. 🤍
