Long wait for broken retainer…

My permanent retainer broke over the weekend, it just came unglued from one tooth on the edge, maybe the second as well. I called my orthodontist’s office and they say they don’t have time to fix it until the middle of january. I was hoping to get it re-cemented on this week, especially since it pokes into my tongue when I eat. Should I call around to different orthodontists to see if they can do it sooner, or is it better to wait and do it where I had everything done originally?
