Shy or just doesn't like me?

Okay so I'd prefer if a boy replied but I don't really care if anyone else does , I'm just struggling with answers. He is in my science , but we only sit next to eachother other for one of those lessons which we rarely have. He always talks to me and jokes with me when we are together, and is also just super kind.

I regularly catch him staring at me but he just never texts me like ever. About 2 weeks ago I added him on snap and he added me back before I even closed the app (and I was going to right after I added him). Then I texted him a few days later and he was in chat before I even sent the message. The chat didn't last long and was a bit dry but I feel like he doesn't like me which is sad because I like him a lot.

Another reason I'm questioning it is because he does talk to other girls but not in like a flirty way , in a way as in he genuinely gets along with him
