Lesbian Identity and not feeling enough
Recently I (24f) realized I’m a lesbian. I had considered myself bi for about 10ish years or so and had really only started saying i was irl within the last 5 years.
My thing is I know I don’t like men. I get annoyed when I’m around them too long and they give me attention. I’ve hooked up with them before and felt nothing but boredom and disinterest. I’m not opposed if someone has different anatomy from me but rather the concept of a man.
But sometimes I feel like maybe I’m wrong because I still feel like I look to male characters or celebrities more often—more mlm media than wlw and it makes me feel like a fraud. It’s not that I don’t love wlw media or female characters/celebrities. But theres something that I always feel more connected to male characters and such or theres no wlw content i heavily relate to that is also like. sexual. There’s not as much flowery soft bs and the characters feel real and raw. I just find myself relating to men more sometimes because of their masculinity and detachment from gender norms in a way(and sometimes anatomy envy) but I know I’m not a man/trans.
I know the first time I kissed a girl how I wanted to keep kissing her, how different it was from kissing a man. I know at one point I had liked my friend and I only ever wanted her company. I never felt that with a man. But I have this draw to men an intrigue and I feel guilty when I recognize how they are still centered for me even though I don’t seek them out for validation or want it. I crave deeper complex women in media, but I always fall back on male characters, on mlm content :/
