Byler-anti questions…

Discussion

I’m a little bit confused on why a lot of people in this fandom are so against Byler? I mean, in all honesty if it were a boy and girl, this would be viewed as an epic love story. To me, as a gay man, it just seems like homophobia. So here’s a few questions for the Byler-antis:

  1. What do you think will happen when Will confesses to Mike? Do you just think they’ll defeat Vecna with the power of rejection?
  2. Why do you feel so strongly about Mike and El staying together? Seeing as it’s pretty obvious that Mike is in love with ELEVEN and not JANE, I’m a little confused on how people still enjoy this, in my opinion toxic ship.
  3. Is it just blatant homophobia? Do you not want characters you grew up with to turn out as gay? Have you never experienced a friend who you could’ve sworn was straight come out in the real world?
  4. What makes you think that Byler won’t end up together, besides Robins monologue? (Because at the end of the day she’s not psychic, she just got Tammy vibes from Mike, who has proven to be very good at putting on a front in this context)
  5. What do you think about “When blue meets yellow in the west” and all the parallels with Byler in that sense? And the fact that the line was repeated multiple times by another LGBTQ+ character on the show? Are we just calling that pure coincidence?
  6. One of the most common arguments was that when Will did his little shove test on Mike, he looked uncomfortable (do people smirk when they’re uncomfortable?)…how do you explain all of the other physical touch instances shared between the two of them throughout the series? Mike placing his hand over Wills? Mike rubbing Wills back after he’s had a vision?

At the end of the day, I ship Byler but think that the show would be just as good if nothing comes of it. But some people when it comes to Byler are absolutely enraged at the thought of the ship becoming canon, and I just want to know why? Respectfully.
