Hiya 🧡 So I’m not fantastic with tech at all- and I’m intending to go seek out a repair. But I want to be prepared and able to speak up and know an approx cost when I go to the repair shop so I can get a fair price on the repair.

But also if this is something I can fix at home I’d be happy for that.

I’m working with a Legion Lenovo (5?) and have had it since approx 2020 or 2021ish

It’s been a fantastic laptop and I don’t want to upgrade within the next 2 years as I find this laptop is doing pretty good for the games I like to play. (World of Warcraft , FFXIV)

However since 2023 the screen at the bottom has appeared as pixely but I didn’t mind much because I use dual screen
By 2024 it was really bad but liveable because of dual screen
By July of this year it was not tolerable - but now it is completely the worst it’s ever been.

It’s approx 2 inches or 5.08cm tall but it’s across the entire width of the screen. The screen has never taken damage, or had any pressure on top. I unplug it when I’m not using it, but it sees a lot of use over the day as it’s for gaming, work, and research.

So! I’m seeking out a repair as stated above, but I’d love to know what the issue could be.

So my questions:

1) What could this be?
2) What is the approx cost of repair (High end and low end)
3) what is the cost of the part needed for repair
4) what is the name of the part needed for repair
5) Is this something I can do at home?
6) Can this migrate up the screen? Like if I fix it now, will it just continue to impact then the top part of the screen one day?
7) Is it a better option to look into an upgrade ?
