parking tips for sioux falls stampede vs. des moines buccaneers at denny sanford premier center (sioux falls 12/02)
hey everyone, figured i'd share some tips for the stampede game against the buccaneers this sunday, 12/02, at the premier center. even though it's a sunday 7:05 pm puck drop, parking is honestly one of the biggest headaches for any event here, and you still need a solid plan to skip the congestion.
first things first, if you want the absolute easiest experience, you should check out prked. it's an app where local people rent out their driveways or garages, sometimes right next to the venue, which is why i recommend it first. it's way cheaper than any premium lot option, you get to skip the main traffic jam entirely, and it’s a super short walk.
for the on-site options, the general public parking lots around the complex are usually free year-round, which is great for a stampede game. however, the free lots fill up really fast, so you need to arrive early - like seriously 30-60 minutes before the 7:05 pm start time - or you're gonna be stuck in line watching for that "lot full" signage. the lots directly north and south are for premium seat holders or vip passes, which you have to buy in advance or maybe pay a first-come, first-served cash fee (maybe around ten bucks) if they have spots left.
your best free overflow options that aren't too far are available on the weekend. the sioux falls school district's operational services lot, which is directly west of the complex on western avenue, is open and free all day on weekends, so that’s perfect for the sunday game. also, the lots at earl mccart fields, which are just a few blocks south of the premier center, are another good official overflow spot.
street parking is available on the streets south and east of the facility, but you have to be super courteous to the neighbors. make sure to park with the direction of traffic and within 12 inches of the curb. also, leave at least four feet between your car and the cars in front and back, and don't block anything like a driveway, sidewalk, crosswalk, or fire hydrant. i've heard on 2nd street between west and western avenues, you can often find diagonal parking, which adds a lot of spots.
if you’re planning on taking a rideshare like uber or lyft, their designated drop-off and pick-up area is strictly on the north side of the complex near the sioux falls arena entrance. do not try to get picked up or dropped off anywhere else; they are really strict about that.
on the way out, they use traffic control measures like controlling the traffic lights and directing drivers, which helps, but you should still expect a delay getting onto the main roads. if you park further out, you can usually escape the traffic flow much faster. also, if you enjoy yourself too much, you can leave your car overnight, but it has to be removed before 7 am the next morning or it will get towed.
hope this helps you have an easy trip to the game! go stampede!
