Why does Strava’s Apple Watch app still not have routes or maps? What’s even the point of it?
I’m honestly confused why Strava has an Apple Watch app at all when it doesn’t include routes, maps, or navigation of any kind. For a company that pushes premium so aggressively, you’d think the Watch app would at least let you follow the routes you save.
Instead, the Strava Watch app basically does:
- start/stop run
- show time, pace, heart rate
- upload the activity
That’s it.
No routes
No maps
No turn-by-turn
No “saved routes”
No ability to view a route
No way to follow a route
You have to use your iPhone to view or start routes — which defeats the entire purpose of having a Watch with GPS.
So my question is: What are people actually using the Strava Apple Watch app for?
And more importantly: What Apple Watch app does offer running routes WITHOUT forcing me to manually import GPX files every single time?
If you’ve found a route-based running app on Apple Watch that doesn’t require GPX imports… what is it? Or is Strava really leaving that huge gap wide open for no reason?
