Is it pointless to want to upgrade to a newer 1/4 inch router even tho I have this old Craftsmen one?

I'm 1 month into this hobby and have currently spent $0 so far but I have everything I need I think:

DeWalt circular saw, drill/impact driver, all the router bits, all the drilling bits, Dewalt electrical planer, I even found free wood.

But this router.... The collet is rusty so i have to spray wd40 to put a bit in and it's a fixed speed. but it does work and I've been enjoying it the most. joinery is the main thing on my mind to explore with woodworking right now.

I do want to upgrade but would getting that DeWalt Router be pointless? Should I go for the plunge router or any 1/2 inch corded router instead?

Just wanna know pros and cons cuz I might take advantage of these holiday deals with the batteries + free router since I only have 1 1.2 ah battery right now.
