Insurance claims my vehicle was at fault and now I'm mildly panicking because I have no idea what happens next
Hello
I just received a notification from my car insurance that after making an unsafe left turn, my vehicle was totally at fault. There's nothing I could do to reverse that. I've never been in this situation before and I have no idea what's gonna happen next.
Am I gonna hear back from the other person's insurance soon? Am I gonna have to start paying the other driver for damages? Is there gonna be some kind of court date I'm not aware of? I also didn't file a police report because there was nobody hurt and there was no property damage so I didn't think I needed to? I did call my insurance like an hour after the incident to make the claim.
I kinda messed up not taking a photo/video of the ENTIRE incident. I took all the important things (I think) like damages done to each vehicle, diver's licenses, car insurances, but should I have taken a video of the other driver walking around without any health issues? (my parents have been in their own car accident in the past and it resulted in the other person suing them for health reasons despite being just fine the time of their incident, but it blew up in their faces when they didn't have video evidence of it).
All these unknowns are eating me up. Please tell me how badly I messed up and also how the next few weeks/months are gonna look like.
I'm in California is that makes a difference.
