Learned the person I’m talking to will be a coworker. What’s the best way to call off the date?
Hi all, I’ve been very worried about this situation with a person I’ve been talking to from a dating app, and I need some advice.
So I’m starting a new seasonal job in a smaller, touristy area. I don’t really have any true experience with dating but I’ve been feeling ready to put myself out there more, so I downloaded a dating app to try to meet some people that way.
I matched with a guy and we chatted a bit and he wants to meet up. I agreed and was feeling excited and he seems excited as well, but as we’ve been talking more I learned that we work the same job, in the same department, just in different areas.
This info has been absolutely tearing me to bits over the last couple days. We haven’t set any specific date to meet yet, but I’m so worried about the fact that we will absolutely be seeing each other often within our jobs. I haven’t started working yet and wouldn’t want anything that could happen to affect my job, because I’ve been very excited for it. Now I’m so worked up about this that I’m regretting getting on the app in the first place and I don’t want to go on the date, but I feel almost trapped because I can’t just back out and never see this person again.
Now I’m wondering if I should text him and explain that I’m not comfortable dating a close coworker and back out, or go on a date and try to explain that there. I was also wondering if I should just go and see what happens, especially since we could both decide we don’t want to pursue a relationship anyways.
