Air fryer question.

I have the Ninja doublestack XL. Either I'm using it all wrong or this thing is just a piece of junk. Anytime I cook something in it, never comes out crispy or it cooks up odd. I'm not over crowding the basket. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong, is there a secret to air frying that I'm not keen on?
