What was speciality training like when you applied?
Curious to know from senior registrars/consultants how much has changed in terms of portfolio requirements for training after f2 over the years.
For core surgical training if you want to max out points you have to:
- assist in 40+ cases
- taster week/ surgical elective
- present at a conference
- publication
- deliver face to face teaching programme
- complete audit cycle . For Internal medicine training, masters , PhD, and PGcert get you more points.
CST has a 8:1 ratio. IMT has 5:1 competition ratio (latest applications)
Was it different when you applied? Did you feel like building a portfolio during f1/f2 was more manageable? Do you think that it is more difficult to progress now than it was for you when you applied?
