My friend set me up with one of her past dates- is it weird to go?

One of my best friends recently went on two dates with a guy- she told me he was a really nice guy, but they both agreed they weren't the best match. She asked me if she could set us me up with this guy because we're both climbers and have some other shared interest. I said sure, I'm not on any dating apps and I haven't been on a date in a few months. She connected us and I'm going out with him tomorrow.

I asked my friend before she set us up if she was sure about it, and told her if it made her feel weird at all I wouldn't go out with him. She said she was 100% fine with it since they only went on two dates and it never went further than that.

Some of my other friends have very strong opinions and think I'm not a "girls girl" for agreeing to go on a date with this guy. My friend group is kinda split on the matter. Naturally, I called and asked my mom what she thought and she said she also though it was a little weird.

I just wanted to get other peoples' opinion on this- is this a weird thing to do??
