What do you do with the cat hair accumulated while petting a cat?

Say you’re at a friend’s house or a family members house. They have a few cats or something and one of them jumps on your lap. You pet said cat for approximately 3.4 minutes and then you realize that you have accumulated fur from said cat either on or in your hand or it’s all balled up at the beginning of their tail/back of their back and falls onto you. What am I supposed to do with it???!! Throw it in the air, stick it back to the cat, eat it, bring a plastic bag to put it in, I have no idea. I don’t want it ALL on me(I understand that petting these creatures means a sacrifice of fur on your clothes but some fur is different then the fist sized clump that manifests), I always figured, might as well just put it on the ground cuz it would’ve fallen on the ground eventually anyways.

I’ve been yelled at by my family for doing this but then when asked they don’t have an answer on what to do with it. I LOVE CATS I’m not just gonna NOT pet your cat.
