IDL when men act like they receive "males" the same way women receive "females"
For a very specific purpose I am going to ask only for opinions of people 21+
If youre a woman, this post is probably going to seem very obvious to you and I acknowledge that. Just want to open this discussion to other men that may think this way or may have asked this before.
I guess I just keep seeing posts of men and hearing coworkers say something very similar that ask other guys if they are offended by the term "males" so to give you an example it would look something like this:
"Do you guys think males is offensive? trying to figure out why females dont like the term female hmmmmm"
I feel like the answer is obvious. WHEN have you actually been called a male in real life, vs how often do you hear your friends or coworkers use the word female? I feel like the answer is jarringly skewed even if they have been called a male, which i have yet to experience personally. But they notably will NEVER say males, they say men, and they say it with great pride. So why cant they say women?
I am leaning more towards the side of the fact that these guys have such a huge problem with respecting women be it because of projection from a previous relationship or something else, that saying women and being asked to say women just seems ridiculous to them.
I think that if you genuinely want to know why women dont like being called females the answer is very easy to find. They dont like being dehumanized linguistically when you dont do the same with men. The linguistic asymmetry i assume is wayyy more noticeable when youre on the other side.
I guess I just dont get the point of even asking, the answer is so obvious that i almost feel like the point of asking for these guys sometimes is just them fishing for a "because women are sensitive hurr da durr i am so cool and unoffended by males you can call me that whenever you want" as if we have ever experienced that word the same way lol
Of course, this is prior to the social media push of women that started calling men males in retaliation, which i do think is pretty funny but probably wont get any points across at all. It'll probably just turn into them being like "yeah you can call me a male and see how unoffended i am by it because i am big and strong" as opposed to them actually trying to understand the point of it all.
