If I tell the TV licensing people that I don’t need a license, does that make them more likely to visit the property?

Hi all,

I’ve been trying to convince my uni house mates that we don’t need to pay the TV license, but as none of them have ever lived in a house before they are convinced by the scary letters that someone is going to come to our house and fine us the £1k.

It’s causing a lot of tension in the house and I am very tempted to go on the tvl.co.uk/noTV website and tell them that we don’t need a license so they stop sending letters. My only hesitation is that they say they may come check to confirm that is the truth, and I don’t want to actively trigger them into coming.

So, if I declare no use online, will someone actually come here?
