How the actual hell do u make friends after college? 23M
So I was kinda doing good socially in my school days, had a bunch of friends with whom I played and hanged out after school. Then Covid hit right after after schooling and it completely changed my personality. I got really insecure about myself and i developed crippling social anxiety. Then started college and I was very reserved and anxious which led to me graduating with zero friends. But I wanted to change myself and regain my older self. So planned to take small incremental steps towards my goal.
I had to join work soon and I was really looking forward to making new connections there. The office is in Bangalore and all of the new recruits from different colleges joined in a single batch. And I was the only tamil guy out in the bunch and that just made matters worse. All of them had their own language groups and I was just flat out ignored even if I was trying to make convos. I also got involved in a toxic linguistic friend group who used me just for favors and discarded me. All of this triggered my social anxiety again I cut off all the toxic friend groups. Their behavior towards me affected my behaviour towards others and I even began questioning myself almost killing myself in the process. I now feel like I would do better alone than being with them.
But the broader question is everyone seems to be hanging out with their college friends even after the college has ended. So now how do I make new friends that won't see as some lone desperate clingy loser?
