OG Sony A7 for videography?

Camera Buying Advice

Hi Friends! I'm a music artist manager looking to bump up my ability to produce content. I also have an interest in adventure cinematography (short films, think Kyle Kotajarvi).

I have a friend who does professional videography and he recommended I get an OG Sony A7, as my budget isn't very high and he thinks it's a good place to get started. That being said, I've seen plenty of people saying the OG A7 can be a difficult video camera to work with and encourage the step up to the A7 ii.

I'm wondering what the great knowledge bank of reddit thinks, and if you all might have some camera/lens recommendations that are of a good value to performance ratio.

Cheers!
