sometimes felt off about what happened today

a royal mail? driver came to my door this afternoon about a collection which wasn’t collected on saturday. sounds fine right? but i never booked a re-collection for today was he legit? do they re-collect if they miss their target the next working day or do people go around hoping you’d just hand over ur parcels? i never gave it to him and just went to the post office instead anyone had this happen before?
