Differences between Kindle and Switch versions?

My 8yo has been playing Minecraft on his Kindle Fire for a while, and while there are some features he doesn’t have (portals?…) he still loves the game. He mostly uses Creative mode and builds a lot. I don’t know if it’s ever updated.

The latest version is 1.21.124.2… for Kindle.

I’m thinking of buying it for him for our Nintendo Switch or Xbox One for Christmas. Is there a big difference in gameplay from Kindle to console? New stuff that would be worth repurchasing it?
