SUV rear light issue

Hi everyone, I've had my 21 Etron SUV for just over 6 months now and since the cold and wet season has really set in, I'm getting rear light warnings accompanied by a double speed indicator flash. Looking at the light itself, I can see clear signs of moisture ingress so I'm assuming this is creating a short of some description. I rang Audi as I have the extended manufacturers warranty where they informed me that the correct procedure is for them to inspect the fault then submit a report to the Audi warranty team for approval which if they accept, will mean a nice new light and no charges, however if they deem it to be wear and tear, I have to pay £220 inspection fee plus repairs should I choose to go ahead. My question to you guys is do you think I should be covered by the warranty and therefore worth the gamble or do I scrounge around on eBay and try and find a second hand unit to replace myself? Any advice you could offer would be greatly appreciated!
