Help!

REQUEST

Hi everyone. I’m reaching out because things have become extremely difficult for our family, and I’m at the point where I don’t know what else to do.

In August 2024, I suffered a stroke. I was off work while recovering, and my employer never allowed me to return afterward. I’ve since taken a part-time position with USPS, but I’m limited to under 20 hours a week, so my paycheck is very small.

My husband was laid off in May of this year and began receiving unemployment in June. We were barely making it, but at least we were staying afloat. Last night we found out his unemployment has stopped completely because he has reached the maximum allowed. That news truly crushed us.

Before my stroke, we had a stable income. We paid our bills, helped our kids when they needed it, and felt secure. We do have newer vehicles—a decision we could afford at the time and one we regret now—but we’re stuck with the payments. To make things worse, my husband’s 2022 Toyota Tundra has a known engine defect. There’s a recall, but his truck hasn’t been chosen yet for an engine replacement. The oil pressure drops, so he can’t even drive it safely, and because of that he can’t haul scrap metal or do anything to bring in side income. But the truck payment still has to be made.

The one blessing is that our home is paid off. But we are 57 and 66, trying to keep things together, and it’s getting harder by the day. We also raise around 1,000 chickens, which brings in a little money, but their feed alone is nearly $600 a month.

Right now, my paycheck barely covers anything, and we are simply out of options. I’m praying constantly and trying to stay strong, but the truth is—we need help. I don’t know what else to do.

If anyone is able to help us financially, even a small amount, we would be incredibly grateful. And if you can’t, please just keep us in your prayers. We will take all the prayers we can get.

Thank you for reading this and for caring.
