How to transfer your consciousness into a machine (Thought Experiment)

I'm bored but here is my instructions on the only way I can think of to transfer consciousness...

Step 1: Develop nanite technology capable of replicating cellular functions in the body
Step 2: Slowly over many years replace every brain cell in the human brain with a nanite thats capable of replicating the functions of that cell. If you replace it instantly you will basically die. But if you replace it slowly, your thoughts and memories will eventually spill over into the artificial cells.
Step 3: Done... your brain is now machine. Instead of uploading your consciousness, you instead uploaded the technology into your brain to mimic the cells that hold consciousness.
