I deleted Horizon 5 and installed Horizon 4 again and man this games feels so much better...
It's winter season currently and the contrast between the games is huge. Well there isn't much to do in FH4 anymore and it has its flaws like long loading times between online races (15-30min), the roads are way too wide, frequent connection issues, lots of cars have exactly the same engine sound etc but still I preffered it over FH5. Fortune Island is the most beautiful location of the series in my opinion, especially in winter. I really wish for some snowstorm racing in Japan, even though it could be difficult.
If you have FH4 on steam keep in mind that you will probably need to do few steps to make the game launch. I forgot about it and it almost bricked my laptop. Both graphic card drivers stopped working, as well as my secondary monitor. I had to launch the laptop in windows emergency mode to fix it but it could've gone way worse. The problem takes place when you have 2 graphic cards in your PC and the game chooses integrated one as default.
DO NOT forget to do this before you launch the game (from Steam at least):
-
Delete this file from game folder - targethardwareprofiler.dll (main source of problem)
-
In Windows' graphics setting add ForzaHorizon4.exe and force it to launch with your dedicated gaming graphic card. Set it to high performance
-
You can do the same in NVIDIA control panel
-
For additional safety you can update all your drives (Game Ready Nvidia etc)
