Moving baby to own room
My baby is almost 4 months old. He has been room sharing with us since he came home from the hospital and as he’s gotten older I noticed him being right next to me was causing us both to get poor sleep, so I moved him to the other side of our room about 6 ft from me. We live in an apartment and our upstairs neighbors had a flood and it caused our room to flood so for time being we’re on the couch and baby is in his room in the crib. I noticed that he sleeps SO good in there. He doesn’t fight going back to sleep when he wakes and is able to self sooth a few times in the night which has helped us get much better sleep. I’m debating on if we should leave him in his room once our repairs are over or bring him back into our room. The only reason I’m against moving him is because the AAP says 6mo room sharing to reduce SIDS. we do everything else to reduce like fan, humidifier, breastfeeding, literally everything else they recommend. SIDS is a huge anxiety for me as I’m sure it is for many parents but for me it consumes my brain 24/7 and I don’t want to increase his risk. I feel bad though because my husband seems to wake at any little movement or noise my son makes when in our room so he thinks we should just go ahead and keep him in his room since he’s used to it now. Any advice or thoughts is helpful! Our room is not big enough for the crib incase anyone try’s to suggest that.
