What are hobbies I can get my father into?
Recently things have gotten rough for my father (64) and I (22). He is going on 64 years old in February and has been retired since 2017. He struggles with feeling in his fingers and mobility issues due to a spinal surgery.
The issue at hand is that in 2019 we moved 12 hours away from our home town. Since moving he hasn't had a job, or found a bar, or made real friends with anybody in our area. This month my mother had recently passed, just a short while after there 30 year anniversary, and now It's just him and I. Of course I'm here for him, and he knows that. But I have friends that have my back, hobbies and interests and other things to do. His favorite pass time is sitting at the house, having a few beers through the day and watching whatever is on TV. I'm trying to get him to lean off alcohol as well (Not a good combination with mobility issues) But I need to find him something. Something he can do with or without me, just for his sanity and my peace of mind.
I'm big on working on cars, and I'm planning on picking up a new one where he can help me out and give us both something to do, whether he's working with me or just hanging out while I knock something out. But that's only one thing.
I know he used to like reading, I'm going to try and pick up a few intersting books later on this week. I'm also thinking about getting him a fishing license and getting him to try fishing out again. I thought about guitair or woodworking but that's not going to be a good mixture without feeling in his fingers.
If anybody has a hobby or interest in mind that you think might suit him please say the word. I want to find him something so that even though I won't be with him 24/7, he won't be lonely.
