How do you make meals that you're excited to eat?

I'm trying to get better about not eating out as much, but it's been a challenge because my brain is constantly craving takeout. Even when I've made food, I'll often just leave it for leftovers that I may or may not get to, in favor of grabbing some subs, Mexican, Thai, or something else (some harissa chicken I made being the most recent wasted meal). So, I wanted to see if anyone had any tips for making more crave worthy food at home? I just really need to get my habits better situated, after spending a couple weeks eating only takeout while I was getting myself situated after a move haha.
