What are basic skills that i should know how fix before I buy a car incase any problems arise on the road?

What are some basic auto skills that every driver should know how to do when owning a vehicle? I am about to purchase my first car and I've never had anyone to teach me about mechanics. The few things I do know how to do like changing oil I had to teach myself. Im buying a 2008 Dodge Nitro 3.7L V6 automatic.
