Shy, gentle, and lonely FMC enters a FWB relationship with popular MMC who ignores her in public but treats her so gentle in private - give me ALL the angst

To provide more context, I’m imagining a college romance, but it could be any circumstance where the MMC is well-known, maybe even in a small town. He doesn’t do relationships and is very straightforward with everyone that he beds, but the FMC is different and alters his brain chemistry. He tries to hold onto his “no strings attached” rule, but the more he spends time with the FMC in private, the more his heart starts to melt for her. All his sexual encounters with other people have been rough, dominating, and detached, but he has never been able to bring himself to do the same to the FMC, even from the beginning. He’s soft, sweet, and gentle with her (but still dominating🤭🙂‍↕️).

As time passes, maybe he starts to stay with the FMC after their meetings. He does aftercare, or even stays with her without having sex, just to be around her. Their relationship gains a feeling of domesticity, but despite how their relationship is developing behind closed doors, he still ignores her in public. He is confused about his feelings for her, but maybe she’s always loved him or started to fall in love with him, and is hurt by his actions.

Maybe one day she overhears him saving face in public and speaking horribly about her, which breaks her heart. Queue in third act break up, groveling, angst, and all that good stuff.

I know this is such a specific request, but I hope that there are some great suggestions for this. Anything even remotely similar is appreciated!
