I had a ton of fun figuring out how to solo this side quest boss in Empyrea and thought I came up with an out of the box strat to solo him on my Balance wizard and wanted to share! After about 8 defeats here is how I finally got him!

**Run 1:** Clear minion fights and clear Meowl helper from Sphinx fight. Then Flee.

**Run 2:** Port back into the dungeon and fight with only the Sphinx.

**The Deck:** 2 Aegis, 2 Epic, 1 Potent, 1 Tower Shield, 2 off blade wand hits, 2 Spirit or Elemental Blades, 2 Feint, 1 Scion of Balance, 1 Judgement (just in case)

**Round 1:** This is a free round, I used it to cast Tower Shield.

**Round 2&3:** To avoid a cheat, you must cast blades.
I used 2 Aegis protected Spirit or Elemental Blades. (Protected incase of Earthquake)

**Round 4&5:** To avoid a cheat, you must damage him.
I used 2 balance wand hits to avoid spending blades or pips.

**Round 6&7:** To avoid a cheat, you must trap him.
(If he happens to use V Plague or Djinni from this point on its worth a restart. Though it hasn't happened in the 6 clears I've done.)
I placed a potent feint and a regular feint (or potent hex if you need more pips).

**Round 8:** Time to hit!
Using Scion of Balance with the 6 gambit blades from earlier clears him every time I've fought him!

There might be an easier way to do this but I had a good time trying to handle this fight and am very happy with how I ended up getting it done!
