Int/acc stacker Question

I am trying out the int/acc stacker with the Hand of thought and motion claws and viper strike of mamba. Almost a mirror in. (I understand i probably need a lot more but i like trying out ridiculous builds when feel im done for the league).

Cant post pob right now but i have 2 questions.

1: defensive layers? Es and evasion? I have about 13500 es and get killed very very quickly still. Some of the delve builds run grace but most don't.

2: do you really have to stand on top of enemies to kill them? Even with awakened melee splash.

Trying to understand. Favourite part of the game is trying new builds. Thank you!
