How to add citric acid to wash with no softener dispenser?

So happy to have found this wonderful sub!

I am going to buy tide free and clear powder, and would like something to soften the cloths as well. I don’t have a fabric softener dispenser, and my washing machine is t clear on when the rinse cycle is. So how can I go about softening my washes? thanks!
