Trip planned to Sri Lanka with family mid-December - should I still go?
Hi,
I had a trip planned for Sri lanka from the 18th to the 27th of December. I have been to your country before and found it really cool. This time it is my family's first international trip in a decade, and we were really looking forward to it. The itenary is Nuwara eliya, ella and mirrissa. However, given the recent scale of devastation with the floods and cyclones, I am wondering whether we should still proceed with it. I am worried about three things primarily:
-
Whether there is potential for another storm/cyclone of this scale to strike again during this period
-
Whether the infrastructure and roads would have recovered by that time
-
Whether it is insensitive to the local people for us to be vacationing while they have just suffered such a big loss there
I would love to hear from other people already there or with experience in similar circumstances
