Why Most People Are NOT Ready for the Rapture – Does This Include YOU?

The Bible repeatedly warns that when Jesus comes for His Church, the world will be caught off guard. Not because God was silent, but because people were spiritually asleep. Here are the core reasons most people today are not ready for the rapture, according to Scripture and the spiritual condition of our generation.
Because Most People Confuse Religion With Salvation
Millions sit in church every week. Millions believe in God. Millions “try to be good.”
But Jesus said:
*“*Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter the kingdom of heaven…”
— Matthew 7:21
Many people know the language of faith but do not know the Lord of salvation.
They falsely trust:
- church membership
- traditions
- good works
- family heritage
- morality
- baptism
Instead of Christ alone.
They are religiously busy but spiritually dead.
Because They Have Never Truly Been Born Again
Jesus didn’t say, “Try harder.”
He didn’t say, “Be spiritual.”
He said:
“Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God,”— John 3:3
Not optional. Not symbolic.
A supernatural rebirth by the Holy Spirit.
Most people have never repented, surrendered, or experienced this transformation. They think Christianity is about behavior, not a new birth. This leaves them unprepared for His sudden appearing.
Because Sin Has Become Normal, Celebrated, and Approved
The last days are described as times when:
- lawlessness increases
- love grows cold
- immorality is embraced
- evil is called good
- good is called evil
That is today’s world.
Many believers are living lives so entangled in sin, compromise, entertainment, addictions, and worldliness that the thought of Christ’s return barely crosses their minds.
They want Heaven later — but the world now.
Because People Don’t Believe the Rapture Is Real or Imminent
Jesus compared His coming to the days of Noah:
“They were eating and drinking… until the day that Noah entered into the ark, And knew not until the flood came…” — Matthew 24:38–39
People heard Noah preach for 120 years — and shrugged.
Today is the same.
Many think:
- “It won’t happen soon.”
- “People have said this forever.”
- “Life will just go on.”
This attitude is the very reason they’ll miss it.
Because Churches Have Stopped Preaching About It
Many church leaders avoid:
- prophecy
- repentance
- holiness
- sin
- judgment
- the Second Coming
They teach self-help instead of salvation.
They promote the church rather than Jesus Christ
They preach comfort, not warning.
Therapy, not truth.
Positivity, not prophecy.
So, congregations stay asleep because their shepherds are asleep.
Because Deception Is Everywhere — and Few Know Scripture
The Bible warns that the last days would be filled with deception so powerful that even the elect would be deceived if possible.
Today:
- false prophets
- false signs
- supernatural deception
- political delusion
- one-world spirituality
- counterfeit Christianity
- rising occult practices
…have blinded millions.
And because so few know the Word of God, they cannot discern truth from lies.
Because Many Love This World More Than They Long for Christ
Paul warned that in the last days people would be:
- lovers of pleasure
- lovers of self
- lovers of money
- lovers of the world
But not lovers of God.
Many want Jesus as Savior — not as Lord.
They want Heaven — but not holiness.
Peace — but not repentance.
Blessing — but not surrender.
This is why the rapture will shock so many.
Because They Assume They Have More Time
This is the greatest lie Satan whispers:
“You can get right later.”
Tomorrow.
After I’m older.
After I’m done with this lifestyle.
After I achieve my goals.
After I settle down.
But Jesus warned:
“In such an hour as ye think not*, the Son of man cometh.”* — Matthew 24:44
The rapture is not waiting for anyone’s convenience.
The Bottom Line
Most people are not ready for the rapture because they do not see the urgency, do not understand salvation, and do not want to surrender.
Have you experienced the rebirth that comes from being born again? If not, your time is running out, as you will miss the rapture and be placed in a situation that will certainly get your attention through hardship. I invite you to Drop Everything, and spend your entire focus on the gospel as taught by John:
“Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God,”
The new birth happens when a person:
1. Recognizes their sin — “For all have sinned” (Rom. 3:23).
2. Repents — turning away from their old life (Acts 3:19).
3. Believes fully in Jesus Christ — His death, burial, and resurrection (Rom. 10:9–10).
4. Calls upon Him — surrendering to Him as Lord (Rom. 10:13).
5. Receives the Holy Spirit — who seals and transforms them (Eph. 1:13–14).
Being Born Again is your ticket for the Rapture. Do you have yours?
