Receptionists: what do you do exactly?
I’ve (20F) worked fast food/retail my whole work career and I’m looking to get out of all that bs and get something more stable.
I’ve applied to a job at a small local animal hospital, the one all my pets growing up have been going to, and the one my little wiener dog goes to now.
I know you greet people when they come in, take phone calls, and schedule appointments, but what else?
I saw some posts on Reddit asking what to do during slow hours. But I was on indeed filling out an application for another front desk job in case this vet one doesn’t work out, and it asked me if I was proficient in excel, pivot tables, filtering dirty data, charts, data analysis (luckily I have some experience, as I’m currently finishing up a Data class for college rn)
But will I really be doing all that at a normal receptionist job or was that some weird exception on Indeed? I’ve worked with it before, but I wouldn’t say I’m proficient?
What else do you need to do as a receptionist?
