Low sperm test result, is there a hope?

DISCUSSION

My partner (35F) and I (33M) have been trying to conceive since February 2025. All of her tests have come back normal, but we went through a miscarriage in June, which has been tough on both of us.

I recently tried a YO Home Sperm Test, and the numbers were extremely low: • Concentration: 2.7 M/mL • Motility: <1% • Progressive Motility: <1% • Motile Sperm Concentration: <2 M/mL

The app flagged everything as “Low.”

What’s confusing is that in the video from the test, we were able to see a bit of movement — not much, but definitely something — so I’m wondering if the YO test might not be picking everything up accurately. I’m in decent health overall, just under a lot of stress lately.

I have an appointment with a fertility urologist next week. Before that, I’ll be getting full hormonal bloodwork done as well as a proper semen analysis.

While we wait, I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who’s been in a similar situation: • Did your YO (home test) results look terrible but your clinical SA ended up better? • Can severely low sperm parameters contribute to miscarriage? • Any advice or personal experience would be really helpful.
