IVC filter removal
Hello everyone! I’m looking for someone who has had the same experience. So I was in a terrible car accident in 2010. So 15 years ago. I didn’t know I was supposed to even have my ivc filter taken out at that time as they never followed up on it. I had it put in at that time as precaution as both my arms and legs were broken. So anyways, I’m finally now getting it removed. 4 of the struts have protruded the vein a little bit. So I got a call back from the hospital and they inform me that because of its placement now, they will need to change point of entry from my groin to my anus. I guess I was shocked when she told me. And I will be asking them more questions when they call me back. She told me the doctor feels it’s low risk and best way to do it. I literally can not find any research on these things being removed via the Anus. I’m so confused. And how do you even get to that through the anus? Wouldn’t that be a risk for a perforated bowl? If anyone has had this procedure done please let me know. Thank you!
