What should I get after my 04 Rodeo?

Obligatory not a car guy, but my partner is.

We have a 2004 Isuzu Rodeo that is currently in the driveway needing a rebuild that we're going to get to.... Eventually.

I used to work at a dealer-only auto auction and have had the luxury to drive so many different vehicles that I otherwise would not have had the opportunity to. The problem is, I never trusted any of those vehicles as much as I trusted the Rodeo.

In an ideal world, I'd just go get another Rodeo (or Trooper). Realistically, good luck finding one on good shape, and good luck finding parts as a general rule.

I need AWD minimalistically, but F/RWD with 4WD is perfectly acceptable (and an SUV). I was originally thinking a 4Runner, but figured I'd ask around to people who would probably understand what I was looking for. Budget is 15k and under as of this moment, but tell me what your experiences were.

(We absolutely are fixing and keeping the Rodeo. We just need two vehicles and this little Dodge Dakota is struggling in the Midwestern winter 😂)
