Is it a good idea to quit my job?
I have a good job. It pays well with yearly raises and the benefits are very good. Unfortunately I hate what I do. I work in web content building websites and maintaining my organization's website.
I probably qualify for imposter syndrome, but that aside I have an hour commute each way. My fiancee lives in a different town and $0 in rent is cheaper than $1200. That commute is killing me.
Earlier this year I was diagnosed with a relatively severe mental illness that completely upended my life. It's like the whole life I've built for myself is wrong. I'm on medication, but between life, traffic and work frustrations exacerbate everything. It's beginning to affect my relationship because my fiancee doesn't like watching me be miserable. He fully supports me quitting and makes enough to keep us afloat. I have about $10k in savings. I just keep finding reasons it's a bad idea. Largely related to the current economic and political situation in the USA.
I was working with a psychologist for medication but discovered she wasn't in network (an incredibly frustrating story).
I have an appointment with a new, absolutely in network, doc mid-December. If I quit I lose my coverage, but I believe out of pocket for her is around $150. Thankfully that is doable for me and I have coupons for all of my meds.
Quitting would allow me to work on our house and plenty of time to find a new job so we can move to a better state. I have friends who can help. I should feel good about quitting. Comfortable. I'm not.
What do I do?
