My boss demanded constant updates… so now he gets 12 emails a day
Throwaway because my company is a circus.
I work at a big German company, and I somehow ended up as the chairman of the workers’ council election committee — the one thing that’s so overregulated that even lawyers need a flowchart to get through it. Management and the works council hate each other and are constantly dragging each other to court. I’m not part of this drama, but lucky me: I get caught in the crossfire anyway.
Legally, I have to do election-committee work during work hours. Fine. HR says I just have to log the hours. Also fine.
But my boss decides he needs a personal notification every single time I start working on committee stuff. I asked if he’d prefer an Excel sheet. Nope. He wants an email every. single. time.
So here I am, sending him 6 emails a day like:
“Hello, I am now working for the election committee.”
Rinse, repeat.
The best part? Legally, he could also demand an email every time I stop. That would mean up to 12 identical emails a day. Absolute peak productivity.
At this point I’m fully committed to malicious compliance. If he wants spam, I’ll give him spam. T
